Applications

Before Applying

Please check the Premise, Rules, and FAQ before applying to make sure this game is a good fit for you.

Also, this is an invite-only game, so you need an invite from a mod or current player to apply! If you don't have an invite but still want to join, you can request one.

Applications are currently closed until January 1st, 2023.

Allowed Characters

Pretty much anything.

Any invited player can freely apply for canon, canon AU, CRAU, original (from an original universe/setting), or malleable protagonist characters.

We will be slightly more selective with canon (with extremely minimal canon material), fanmade AU, original (from a canon universe/setting), and historical characters, especially if the mods don't know you very well. We may ask for additional samples/details for these character types in particular, or ask that you play a different character to start with.

Doubles of characters are allowed, but require permission. If you'd like to play a character that someone else is already playing a version of, please ask them first.

Application

To apply for a character, fill out the form below and post it as a new comment to this post.

In the subject line, please put the name of your character, your canon (or original/OC) and your name/online handle.

OOC Information

Player: your name!
Contact: preferred method of contact, ie. plurk, discord, DW private message, etc.
Invited by: the name of the mod/player you were invited by, or if you requested an invite
Other character(s) played: if applicable, you can include dropped characters here if you want to

IC Information

Character Name: the name of your character, please make a note here if this is an OC
Canon: the canon your character is from. if it's an original setting, put Original
Canon Point/AU: the point in the timeline your character is being taken from and/or the specific AU they're from. for CRAUs, include the name/comm of the game(s) they're being taken from. if it's a really weird AU feel free to go into as much detail as you want here, just don't go too crazy.

TL;DR: please give a BRIEF (1~3 sentences) description of your character overall, as if you were describing them to a totally canonblind person you wanted CR with. don't worry about getting all the details here or being super serious or witty or what have you, this is just to get an immediate feel for what kind of character they are.

History/Abilities Reference: preferably a wiki link, but any link or write-up will do as long as it gives a decent understanding of your character! feel free to complain about how much your canon wiki sucks here if you want. if you have nothing decent to link (or if it's an OC), abilities are more important than history (seriously, no one actually reads those) (unless it's a CRAU or canon OC with canon CR, please mention any surprise canon relationships that might come up). as long as you don't spring anything crazy on us later that wasn't mentioned don't worry about getting into any gritty details.

also, if your character has abilities related to time travel or dimensional travel specifically, please let us know! these types of abilities will be a lil fucked up on arrival.

Inventory: inventory should only include items that your character had on them at the time of their arrival, but exceptions will be made if it's something inconsequential or funny. please list only notable/special items here, we don't need to know exactly how many quarters your character likes to keep in their back pocket or whatever. you can provide links if it's something with extra powers and you feel the detail is necessary. items kept in spooky hammerspace inventory systems are allowed without limits, but characters may not be able to access said inventories straight away (timespace, still a lil fucked up).

Pets/Companions: leave blank if not applicable, but let us know if your character is bringing a pet/summon/companion character, if they have any abilities you wanna note, etc. please be reasonable and don't ask for like 20 dogs your character keeps at home unless you have a very convincing argument for it.

What do you hope to achieve with this character?: do you want them to grow as a person? learn cool magic powers? learn something about themselves? you have no plans at all and just wanna see what happens? there are no wrong answers here, so be as specific or as vague as you want.

Writing Sample: any thread with a minimum of 5 comments from you, preferably of the character you're applying for. if you already have a character in the game you can skip this part entirely, we know what you write like it's fine you're fine.

Anything else you want to add?: if your character is arriving in a different way from normal, if you're opting into humanization/nerfing, if there's a rly funny gif you wanna share, idk man put whatever you want here

Housekeeping

Journal: the journal you'll be using for this character.
Permissions: a link to a post that lists your preferences/permissions for things like triggers, shipping/intimate contact, types of CR, etc. basically the kind of stuff you'd like people to be aware of before threading with you. if you need a code/list to use, here you go!
IC Inbox: a link to an IC inbox post that other players can use to start new threads with your character. optional!
Favourite Icon: a link is fine, or you can pick the icon you're currently using for this comment. this is what will go on the active characters page, make it count.

Class Name: please provide a snappy 1~2 word job/class title for your character as if they were a playable character in a video game. does not have to fit a traditional RPG style ("Officer Worker" is a valid class name), and ideally it shouldn't be the same as another current character's class, just for the sake of variety. yes this is VERY important and WILL be on the test.

The following sections are all optional and may be left blank if you'd like us to make it up/flip a coin.
Speed: Slow, Average or Fast.
Range: Short, Medium or Long.
Difficulty: Easy, Normal or Hard.
Damage Type: Physical or Magical. this does not need to make sense, we literally have wizards doing magic but for some reason it's physical damage. don't think about it.
