Quest Board

GeneralSkillMaster ClassEpic

The quest board is located in Elrianode's central plaza, as well as in the central plaza of most cities within Elrios. Maintained by Cobo Service, this board is covered in flyers and requests from various residents of the area looking for assistance. Adventurers may accept and complete as many quests as they can handle. In return, they will receive a reward from either Cobo Service or the quest-giver.

Out of character, the quest board will be used to track plot progress as well as provide prompts and mini-events for characters to busy themselves with. Characters can also submit their own quests to be completed by others! A handful of new quests will also be added or updated with every in-game event.

General Quests

General Quests are the simplest type of quest available to characters. These are essentially just free prompts anyone can use as a way to facilitate threads. There are no rules to picking up general quests, or even completing them—you don't have to if you don't care about the reward! You can also handwave most general quests as being completed in the background, if it makes sense for your character. Cobo Service will pay adventurers a small fee for every quest they complete, so most characters can be assumed to have done some questing in their spare time to pay for basic amenities.

General quests may also be submitted by PCs! If you'd like to submit a quest of your own, please see this thread for details. When completing a quest for another PC, please get in touch with that player to submit the results!

Introduce yourself to the locals!
"You see those shape-like creatures over there? They're not the best for conversation, but you could say they're the natives of this world. The long ones are called Chaos Triangle, and the ones that spin in place are Chaos Circle and Chaos Square. Why don't you start by introducing yourself? Of course, they respond best to acts of extreme violence, so you'd best go in prepared."
Glave is always looking for adventurers to bully the void entities with. Defeat at least one Chaos Triangle, Chaos Circle and Chaos Square, then deliver their cores to Glave as proof.
CLIENT: Glave
LOCATION: Henir's Time and Space
REWARD: As many tiny floating cubes as you can stuff in your pockets. They don't seem to do anything, though Glave insists they're a highly valuable resource.

I didn't lose my marbles, but...
"Let's see... well, I did happen to drop something earlier. A pair of blue cubes, about an inch across each side. I think it was somewhere... oh, maybe over there? I'm busy at the moment, so how about you find them for me?"
Find Glave's two missing cubes. His directions are awful to the point of being useless, and they blend in with all the other glowing blue surfaces around here. This might actually be impossible, but try your best.
CLIENT: Glave
LOCATION: Henir's Time and Space
REWARD: As many tiny floating cubes as you can stuff in your pockets. They don't seem to do anything, though Glave insists they're a highly valuable resource.

Who would say no to free samples?
"Two potions, on the house. It's bad for business if my customers get hurt. If you give one of them to someone else, I'll consider that a favour to myself."
Find a traveller in need and give them a healing potion! It tastes like Tylenol, but it sure does work. Or just lie. Drink both of them yourself! What's the worst that could happen?
CLIENT: Helen
LOCATION: Any
REWARD: Free healing potions! Good for small injuries, though they can't do much for broken bones or bloodloss. Don't drink too many at once or you'll get sick.

You can't go to Elrios without a bit of whaling.
"I run a fishing business on the side, you see, and I've heard tales of a great Leviathan that roams this space. I've always wondered if other fish might've ended up here as well. I'll let you have this rod, and if you find anything that looks like a fish, let me know."
Go fishing... in space!! There is no water here, it only kind of looks stupid. If you keep at it for long enough you might actually fish something up... or maybe you'll just hook one of the Chaos creatures. Or an actual Leviathan. Try not to get killed, good luck!
CLIENT: Helen
LOCATION: Henir's Time and Space
REWARD: Free fishing rod and basic bait; if you bring her back any fish (or "fish"), she'll give a reasonable amount of ED in return.

Skill Quests

Skill Quests and are related to learning new skills and abilities. You do not need to use these quests to have your character learn something new, but they can be used as a springboard if you're not sure where to start. More skill quests may become available as NPCs are unlocked or convinced to help out.

Like with general quests, PCs can also submit skill quests if they have a skill they'd be willing to teach to other characters. To submit a skill quest to the board, see this thread. If you'd like to pick up another character's skill quest, please get in touch with the player directly!

Master Class Quests

Master Class Quests are similar-but-slightly-different-from skill quests. These will become available at a later date.

Epic Quests

Epic Quests are quests directly related to the main plot of the game. For this reason, there are a few extra rules for Epic Quests compared to other types of quests.

  • You may contribute to as many Epic Quests as you want. However, each character may only hold one major plot clue or connection at a time. That means that if you make significant progress in a questline, you may be locked into that particular quest until it's completed or you pass your lead on to a different player. We'll let you know once you've progressed far enough into a quest to lock into it.
  • Success and failure will be determined through a mix of character skills, player creativity, and RNG. For example, one quest may require a roll of 15 or higher on a d20, but a modifier of +2 may be applied to the final result because of how the characters decided to approach the problem. Likewise, characters may also get a negative modifier for making poor choices.
  • Some Epic Quests will require 2 or more players to participate. In general, there will always be a better modifier for group attempts at a quest vs solo attempts. Sharing is caring! The spotlight is for everyone!

If you're stuck, if you want a better reason for your character to get involved in a plot, or if you just want something cool to happen to pull your character into things, you can also buy a plot clue with activity. For more information on that, please see the Ice Burners page.

To participate in an Epic Quest, please choose one from the list below and then fill out the form for quest acceptance.

001 - Lost in Time and Space
"How do you get back to your own world? Kukuku... well, you're getting a bit ahead of yourself, aren't you? If you want to leave, you'll have to take it up with the person who started this whole mess. He's the only one who can fix it. Who is 'he'? Ah, my apologies, I never did explain myself... you're looking for the new Administrator of Time and Space. A boy named Add."
Before anyone can leave, Glave says that Add needs to fix the mess he made. Add's current whereabouts are unknown.
Search areas within Elrianode and Henir's Time and Space to find clues to Add's location. Unlocking more areas may reveal more clues.
CLIENT: Glave
LOCATION: Henir's Time and Space
REWARD: Add NPC unlock; once Add has been found, timespace within Elrios will become more stable and further areas beyond Elrianode may be unlocked.

002 - The Locked Tower
"I'm afraid I cannot allow you in at this time. I'll only ask you once to turn back. I'd rather not have to resort to force to deal with trespassers."
Denif has closed the El Tower, preventing anyone from inspecting it for leads. Gain access to the El Tower, either by breaking the magical seal or by convincing Denif to let them in.
Breaking in will require a great deal of magical expertise. It will also require discretion to avoid alerting Denif of a break-in and starting a huge fight. Failed break-in attempts will increase the difficulty of future attempts. High risk, high reward.
Negotiation will require characters to get on Denif's good side and convince him of the benefits of letting others investigate the El Tower. Negotiation through the priestesses or other El Masters is also an option. Denif may be more easily convinced if characters have already proven themselves trustworthy through other means.
• Characters that contribute to this quest will be given increased priority to the related event.
CLIENT: N/A
LOCATION: Elrianode
REWARD: El Tower area unlock; an event will occur.

003 - Suspicious Activities
"Hey! You there! Yeah, you! You're going to the residential district, right? ... Whoa, no need to get defensive! Ahaha, you look pretty strong, so I don't care if it's dangerous! You'll be fine, probably! Anyway, if you see anyone who looks suspicious... say, someone in a black cloak hanging out with all the monsters... if you could try to follow them, that'd be great! Just try to be stealthy about it, okay? And don't get caught! Good luck out there!"
Ignia wants to investigate the suspicious cultists hanging around the Residential District. Find the cloaked cultists and follow them back to their base. A stealthy approach is recommended.
Pursuit will require characters to either tail their cloaked targets while staying out of sight or find a way to track their movements. They will also be surrounded by monsters, making this trickier than just being quiet. Partial success may make future attempts easier; however, failure close to the end may also cause them to up security or move their base.
Capture will require characters to surprise and restrain one of the cultists before they can teleport away or transform. This will also call for stealth, but instead of following the target over a long period of time they only have to get close enough to make a move. A trap could be set to make this approach easier. However, once a target has been captured there's no guarantee they'll talk.
Infiltration will require characters to pose as a cultist (or would-be cultist) and attempt to get directions to the base peacefully. Or, y'know, screw the quest and join the cult anyway... regardless, they'll need to come up with a very convincing argument to get their cultist buddy to talk.
• This quest will require a mod-guided thread.
CLIENT: Ignia
LOCATION: Elrianode
REWARD: Area unlock; NPC unlock.

004 - Buried Lab
"... It's no good. If I used my magic to dig quickly, the whole lab could collapse. Master Gaia... Please, I know you also have troubles, but if you could help Master Gaia... there's a portal down there that I'm sure could help all of you."
Artea is worried about Master Gaia, who went down into the underground Debrian Laboratory before the palace collapsed on top of it. Find a way into the lab to check up on him.
Digging is the most straightforward approach, but will also take the longest. There's a lot of rubble blocking the entrance. The more characters that help dig, the faster an opening can be made. Using creative methods may speed up the digging process—however, a critical failure may cause a collapse that buries the lab even deeper.
• Each character in the game may contribute to this quest once per month, until the excavation is complete.
• The lab entrance is currently 0% excavated.
CLIENT: Artea
LOCATION: Elrianode
REWARD: Master Gaia NPC unlock; Debrian Laboratory area unlock; if the portal in the lab can be safely excavated, other areas may be unlocked more quickly.

005 - Hidden Cave Of Trials
"The Elrian Sanctum...? I'm sorry, but I really don't know where it is! Even if I did, I made a promise to Master Ventus. It's a very dangerous place right now, and there could be other dangers that got inside. Master Ventus is taking care of it, so please, don't worry about it! If there's anything in there that can help all of you, I'm sure he'll let everyone know as soon as he gets back."
Some of the priestesses have mentioned the Elrian Sanctum, but none of them seem willing to share its location. Find the Elrian Sanctum and investigate it.
Negotiation will require characters to convince one of the priestesses or Masters to share the secret location. Only some of the priestesses actually know where the entrance is. The Masters and priestesses may be more easily convinced if characters have already proven themselves trustworthy through other means.
Searching will require characters to snoop around and find the entrance themselves. This doesn't require any help from NPCs, but will be much more difficult unless the exact location can be narrowed down. The entrance is also hidden and may need to be unlocked or revealed with magic.
CLIENT: N/A
LOCATION: Elrianode
REWARD: Master Ventus NPC unlock; Forgotten Elrian Sanctum area unlock.

006 - Impenetrable Barrier
"... Master Rosso never came back. I hope he's okay. If you go in there... let us know if you see him."
Master Rosso went missing after investigating the Henir Barrier. Try to pass through the barrier yourself to find out what happened.
Entering the barrier is the only obvious option. Characters that step into barrier will be faced with a personal trial, constructed from their memories and fears as the barrier tries to force them to turn back. If multiple characters enter the barrier together, their illusions will also mix together.
• Completing another quest will greatly reduce the difficulty of passing the barrier successfully; however, clues may be obtained by entering the barrier and passing its trials, even if characters are unable to fully escape Elrianode.
Before accepting this quest, please complete a thread with at least two characters that contains 20 or more comments total. In this thread, at least one character must overcome the barrier's illusion. A final diceroll will determine the results, with bonus points granted for flair/thread length/number of characters passing the trial.
CLIENT: Darkmoon
LOCATION: Elrianode
REWARD: Master Rosso NPC unlock; once the barrier has been overcome, the rest of Elrios will become accessible.
